Client Course Description

Originally built in 1968, the course reopened in December 2022 after an extensive renovation by renowned golf architect Rees Jones and remains one of the premier golf experiences in the southeast United States.

This championship course has been artfully remodeled to offer improved playability for golfers of all skill levels. Gentle contours, slight elevation changes and manicured fairways have enhanced the course’s natural terrain to allow for flexible play and a variety of shot options with varying degrees of risk.

Designer Notes

The Breakers Rees Jones Course project completed in 2005 was a comprehensive rebuilding of the Breakers Hotel’s golf course located within the Breakers West residential community. All of the tee, green and fairway bunker complexes were redesigned. As a result of the realignment of several holes, the golf course was converted from a par 71 to a par 72 and extended to an overall length of 7100 yards.

After the sucesseful redesign of The Breakers Ocean Course,  The Breakers brought the team of Rees Jones and Steve Weisser back in 2022 to update the Rees Jones Course and provide a more classic look.  The course was updated to today’s standards with the focus on playability and sustainability.  Full regrassing (TifEagle on greens and Celebration Bermuda used on all other playing surfaces), bunker modifications to enhance sight lines and playability, improved irrigation system to assist with water control & conservation, reconstruction of most holes to allow expanded shot options, introduction of green tees for those who would like to play shorter yardage and addition of pines, oaks and other native landscaping
