  • Bryce Swanson Named To Golf Magazine's "40 Under 40" List

MONTCLAIR, N.J. - Bryce Swanson, a senior designer at Rees Jones, Inc., has been named to Golf Magazine's prestigious "40 Under 40" list. This select group of golf notables "have each helped shape, influence or improve the game, both on the course and off, before reaching their 40th birthdays," according to the publication.

"Call them the Young and the Tireless," the magazine reported in its November, 2010 issue, identifying the "40 Under 40" as "the game's up-and-coming generation of influencers, trendsetters and newsmakers, an eclectic mix of talent worth watching today and for many years to come."

Swanson, 38, joined the staff at Rees Jones, Inc. in 2000 after apprenticing himself to two other golf course architecture firms. Working with Rees Jones, "his recent refurbishing work at Atlanta Athletic Club's Highland Course in preparation for the 2011 PGA Championship has drawn rave reviews," Golf Magazine stated. "He's also done a facelift at Royal Montreal's Blue Course (host of the 2007 Presidents Cup), and rebuilt Bellerive C.C. in St. Louis, a former host of several major championships."

Swanson, who was elected a regular member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) earlier this year, said, "It is a really nice honor to have people in the golf industry think so highly of my ability and talents. Working with Rees has given me a great opportunity to grow as a designer. My design colleagues have been generous with their help and knowledge, and I've had the chance to work with a number of great clients over the years."

Rees Jones said of his vice president and senior designer, "Bryce Swanson is one of the best young designers in golf. I am glad that Golf Magazine has recognized him. He is a true asset to our firm."

Nominees for the "40 Under 40" ranking were solicited from a variety of sources, including but not limited to the PGA Tour, the LPGA, the United State Golf Association, The First Tee, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the American Society of Golf Course Architects, leading equipment manufacturers, and the editorial staff of the Sports Illustrated Golf Group. The finalists were determined by a panel of Golf Magazine editors.
