Greg Muirhead
Greg Muirhead is a native of Indianapolis, IN who discovered golf and learned the game as an avid junior golfer at Crooked Stick GC in Carmel, IN. Certain from an early age that he wanted to pursue a career in golf architecture and subsequent to meeting course architect Pete Dye at Crooked Stick G.C., Greg enrolled in the College of Architecture & Planning at Ball State University and graduated in 1984 with both Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and B.S. in Environmental Design degrees.
While attending Ball State, Greg fulfilled graduation requirements by completing two summer internships assisting with the construction of the Pete Dye designed, Austin CC, in Austin, TX. After graduation, Greg also assisted with the construction of a Dye course in Denver, CO. In late 1984, Pete and Alice Dye helped Greg secure his current position with Rees Jones, Inc.
Since joining Rees Jones, Inc., Greg has been involved in the design or redesign of over 55 daily - fee, resort or private facilities throughout North America and Asia. Greg was the Co- Designer of three courses named "Best New" by Golf Digest magazine Atlantic GC - 1992, Sandpines GC - 1993 & Nantucket GC - 1998). In addition, Greg was the Co-Designer of three courses prepared to host four, U.S. Open Championships Congressional CC, Blue Course - 1997, Bethpage Black GC - 2002 & 2009 & Torrey Pines South Course - 2008), as well as one Walker Cup venue (Ocean Forest GC - 2001). Greg was also the Co-Designer for the complete renovation of East Lake GC, host of the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup Championship since 1998, and Cog Hill #4 - "Dubsdread", host of the PGA Tour's BMW Championship, as well as the design of the new, Redstone GC Tournament Course, home of the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open since 2006.
Greg became an Associate Member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) in 1987 and was elected a Regular Member in 1989. Greg was elected as the organization's President in 2006. He has also served as the ASGCA Immediate Past- President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Chairman. Greg also completed two, 3-year terms as a member of the ASGCA Board of Governors and he recently Co-Chaired the group's Strategic Planning Committee.
Greg has authored several articles and been featured in others, regarding golf course planning and design issues. Greg has also spoken about a variety of these subjects at various industry gatherings and has also served as a Presenter and Seminar Instructor at multiple Golf Industry Shows.

Golf course architect Rees Jones was inducted into the New Jersey Sports Writers Association Hall of Fame on Sunday, Jan. 22.
