Course Type: Private
Design Role: Complete Restoration (In Progress)
Co-Designer(s): Steve Weisser
Client Course Description
Tucked away in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, El Caballero Country Club’s par 71 championship golf course is a great test of golf. Designed by the acclaimed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr., this challenging track boasts many of his signature elements—tight fairways, gentle doglegs and daunting green-side bunkering on a layout that winds through gentle hills and mature trees.
Recognized as the "Finest course in the Valley" by LA Magazine, El Caballero has hosted numerous US Open qualifying rounds, three LPGA events and many local charity tournaments. Players of all abilities find both challenge and reward on this scenic layout. El Caballero's meticulous course conditions, excellent caddies and an all grass practice facility ensure members and their guests experience the most from each round.
Designer Notes
After development of a Long Range Master Plan, the project is scheduled to be a comprehensive rebuilding of all the tee, green and fairway bunker complexes in order to restore and update the course to today's standards with the focus on playability and sustainability.
