Course Type: Private
Design Role: Redesign Ongoing Since 2019
Co-Designer(s): Greg Muirhead
Client Course Description
Ranked 22nd by Golf Digest in its 2013-2014 Best in New York State rankings, Old Westbury is among the metropolitan area’s most challenging courses. Originally designed by William Mitchell, the three nines hole courses take full advantage of the natural changes in elevation, abundance of mature trees and splendid panoramic views of Long Island. The three nine hole courses (Woods, Overlook and Bluegrass) are fair and balanced and require a mix of shots. Old Westbury has hosted several L.I.G.A. events, the M.G.A. tournament and the 2013 Met Open.
Designer Notes
Designer is working with the club to develop a long range master plan that will improve the overall playability, challenge, diversity and agronomic conditions of each nine.
