Top Five Rees Jones Designs And Redesigns As Rated On Golf Advisor
Courtesy of Golf Advisor
Rees Jones is known as much for his high-profile redesigns as he is for his original designs. Mike Bailey profiles him in this Ask the Pros Q&A, where he discusses how his design style has evolved, as well as what, if anything, can be done to prevent courses like Whistling Straits from yielding winning scores of 20-under par in major championships.
The son of Robert Trent Jones Sr., he's had the chance to restore and update some of his father's earlier works. He's also had a stretch of years where he updated courses to host major championship sites. Torrey Pines South and Bethpage Black, both municipals, earned their way onto the U.S. Open rotation in the late 1990s and 2000s.
But his original designs are no slouch, either. Many are of the public variety and have been rated on Golf Advisor. We've scoured the site to look for the top rated in each category.
