    Danzante Bay Golf Course

    17th Hole – Par-3 – 181 Yards

LORETO, MEXICO – The majesty of top tier architecture comes when strategy and visual elements of the highest order merge seamlessly together. Stirring the emotions is what superior architecture does at its finest. The par-3 17th hole at Danzante Bay Golf Club in Loreto, Mexico is riveting. The first course designed in Mexico by renowned architect Rees Jones has only eleven holes opened — the full layout opens in November 2018. The par-3 17th at Danzante Bay Golf Club is truly captivating — ascending a hill to get to the multiple tee positions set along a rock outcropping elevated above the waiting target. The first impression is overwhelming to the senses — the Sea of Cortez shimmering with islands of land situated in the distance.

The putting surface is angled with a forced carry — the deeper the pin is placed on the far right side the more precise and longer the carry is needed. The hole is divided into two halves — a slight rib elevation separating the far left and right sides. There is a rear bunker to guard against the too overaggressive play — be forewarned the drop-off behind the green is perilous. Wind is always a factor – swirling and ever changing in intensity and direction. The 17th at Danzante will forever be indelibly etched into one’s memory.
